(Day Excursion to KANCHIPURAM 65Kms/1Hour and half each way) Post breakfast, local visits of Mahabalipuram, the seven pagoda-style shore temples, lashed by the waves of the sea and the seven Rathas or temple chariots, a group of monolithic monuments & animal figures carved out of solid rock, the earliest known examples of Dravidian architecture. Later proceed to Kanchipuram, the ‘City of Thousand Temples’, considered as the second holiest place of India and one of the seven sacred cities. Kanchipuram is also famous for its hand woven silk fabrics. Visit the Kailashanatha Temple which was built in the 7th Century and Kamakshi Amman Temple. Post breakfast, check-out and drive to Madurai. On the way visit Darasuram Temple. En-route visit Tanjore, once the capital of Chola dynasty known as temple builders who ruled South India between 10th and 14th centuries. On arrival visit the most spectacular Brihadeeshwara Temple, capped by a monolithic cupola made of a single granite rock weighing 80 tons. The temple itself is decorated with carved panels depicting mythological events. Tanjore Palace & Art Gallery has a large collection of Chola bronzes & Tanjore paintings. Tanjore painting is a unique art using a lot of precious stones and pure gold foils to fill in as ornaments and clothing of the figurines, mostly depicting Hindu Mythology Gods like Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Parvathi, Krishna, Ganesh and others. Post breakfast, sightseeing of Madurai known as the temple town of South India famous for the Meenakshi Temple, with its towering gopurams and rare sculptures. Visit Sri Meenakshi Temple, Thirumalai Nayak Palace, Gandhi Memorial Museum, Flower Market etc. In the evening, visit Sri Meenakshi Temple to witness the closing ceremony. Overnight stay at Madurai

After breakfast check out and depart by road to Vandanmedu -the land of unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. It houses the famous wildlife sanctuary Periyar” in South India and has also been declared as a Tiger Reserve. On arrival, check-in to your hotel for 01 night. Afternoon go for a short trek in to the Spice Plantations surrounding the resort. The path will take guests past cardamom bushes and pepper vines, the air rich with the scents of clove and cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, past trees abundant in season with mango and banana and further on branches bearing oranges, mangostene, jackfruit, rambuttan, butter fruit, papaya and rose apple. Guest will have the opportunity to view at close quarters the planting and plucking of the crop. The walk is also an opportunity spot a fascinating range of butterflies. The eventful history of this city began when a major flood in AD 1341threw open the estuary at Kochi, till then a land locked region, turning it into one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Kochi thus became a haven for seafaring visitors from all over the world and became the first European township in India when the Portuguese settled here in the 15th century. After breakfast join your guide at the hotel for a tour of Mattanchery & Fort Cochin, covering the Dutch Palace (closed on Fridays) which was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and was presented to the King of Cochin as a gesture of goodwill. The Jewish Synagogue (closed on Fridays & Saturdays) was originally constructed in 1568, but was destroyed by Portuguese in 1662.This was rebuilt two years later when the Dutch took over Cochin. In Fort Cochin walk past the Chinese fishing nets and the St. Francis Church which is said to be India's oldest European-built church was constructed in 1503. Having died in Cochin in 1524, Vasco Da Gama was buried here for 14 years before his remains were taken to Lisbon. Morning check-out from the hotel and depart to Alleppey. On arrival, board your privately crewed Kettuvalam / Houseboat for a day cruise. Lunch will be served shortly after boarding. The cruise takes you through some of Kerala's most scenic backwaters, where you can watch the local people living their daily lives, where the only means of transport is by boat.
